Fablan Chiang

Born in Chiayi in 1976, Taiwanese contemporary artist Fablan Chiang, also known as Jiang Niao or Jiang Jihong; studied painting from an early age; he is committed to contemporary art, combining African drums and Taiwanese music creation and education.

In 2009, he went to Guinea, West Africa, to learn drums. In 2018, he performed in Uganda with his team. The characters in his works often reflect the people, events, and current affairs around them. This provides a unique perspective to view the world. In 2005, the Sibongie band was established. In 2017, they were invited to be the opening performance group for the closing party of the Taipei World Universiade. In 2021, they were invited to perform at the “Northern Dawn” concert at the Presidential Palace. In 2015, he released the album “Wassa Wassa! Beats and Joy from Africa” and the album “Gentleman with No Shoes” in 2020.
